About This Event
Art Basel Miami Beach is in its 21st edition. The Black Art presence has grown significantly since the inception of what is now called Art Miami Week. This uniquely curated Black Art Experience aboard the beautiful Midnight Sun Yacht will be the first of its kind during Art Basel Miami Beach.
Miami based Curator and Art Advisor, Ludlow Bailey, Managing Director of CADA (Contemporary African Diaspora Art) and Kellee Baker, DC Attorney and Founder of BAYE (Black Art Yacht Experience), have come together to stage a cutting edge, exciting and innovative art experience designed to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of Black global creatives and to provide a platform to discuss key issues concerning the burgeoning Contemporary African Diaspora Art sector.
The Art
The evening will showcase the exceptional sculptures of world renowned Artist, Basil Watson, a photo exhibition featuring Togolese American Photographer TABI BONNEY (curated by Erik Pettie), along with works by Yal La' Ford, George Gadson, Yrneh Brown and St. Lucian artist, Jallim Eudovic. Contemporary urban artist, Kandy Lopez, will provide live portraits during the event.
Art Talk
Our on board "Art Talk" will include a panel discussion by some of the world's leading experts on CADA, Contemporary African Diaspora Art.
Entertainment
The evening entertainment will feature Jazz, AfroBeats and Caribbean music, along with a performance by celebrated Hip Hop Violinist "Marvillous Beats". Artist Derrick Grant will present a Fashion Show with wearable art. There will be a special appearance of Bordeaux based African model and actor, Amine Sunnyday.
Hors d'oeuvres, a dinner buffet and an open bar will compliment the evening. Attire is dressy casual.
FAQ
Where do I park & board? We will board the Midnight Sun Yacht at 8:00 p.m. and the entertainment program will begin. The yacht will remain anchored from 8-10 and sail from 10-12 from the Venetian Marina & Yacht Club at 1635 N Bayshore Drive Miami, FL 33132. (Use Trinity Cathedral for GPS: 464 NE 16th St, Miami, FL 33132) Guests will be alerted of the pier number prior to the event. There is limited parking near the marina and during Art Week there may be no parking in the immediate area. The Trinity Cathedral parking lot that gets full frequently to the right of the Marriott adjacent to the marina (usually $15). Please note that the Marriott hotel is not obligated to park cars of non-guests. There may be public parking garage space or street parking available within a one-mile radius, so plan to arrive by 7 p.m. in anticipation of this challenge.
What is the attire? Dressy Casual, which means if you incorporate a casual element, incorporate an equal amount (or more) of a dressy element. For example, if you wear jeans, wear a blazer and nice shoes. If you wear a suit, you can wear sneakers & a cap.

BAYE's Mission
